Prospera Hotels is a Southern California-based real estate development, management and investment company currently working on hotel projects within North America. With over 100 years of combined experience in the hospitality industry, Prospera’s corporate team brings a record of innovation and success to each project it undertakes.

Amrit Patel, Chairman

Amrit Patel has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He started his career as a structural engineer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, specializing in highway and bridge design. In 1972, he transferred to Bechtel Corporation in Los Angeles, California where he specialized in power plant design.

While he was employed at Bechtel Corporation, Mr. Patel diversified his knowledge and expertise into the hospitality industry and soon after turned his attention to real estate investment and development full-time. During the last three decades, he has developed several high-end oceanfront boutique properties, receiving national accolades, including the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for three of those hotels. His most recent project was the Doubletree Guest Suites at the Anaheim Resort in Southern California. Mr. Patel received Doubletree’s Developer of the Year award in 2004 for his efforts.

Mr. Patel received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in India in 1964 and received his Masters of Science in Structural Engineering at Villanova University in Pennsylvania in 1966.

Ajesh Patel, President and Chief Executive Officer

As President and CEO of Prospera Hotels, Ajesh Patel is in charge of the overall strategic direction of the organization. His responsibilities include new business development, oversight of the operations, construction and development teams, and forming strategic relationships with equity and debt partners. Since founding Prospera Hotels, Mr. Patel has been involved in several development projects including the Doubletree Guest Suites at the Anaheim Resort and Cortona Inn and Suites. Most recently, he acquired strategic land parcels located within the Anaheim GardenWalk project, where plans are currently underway for the construction of 2 hotels totaling 866 rooms.

Prior to entering the hospitality field, Mr. Patel worked as an investment banker in Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenerette’s Los Angeles office, where he focused on buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisition transactions, debt and equity financings and leveraged buyouts, across a variety of sectors. Subsequently, he joined a start-up as Director of Business Development, where he assumed significant responsibility in helping secure the company’s $47 million second round of funding. Mr. Patel’s international experience includes spending a year in Munich, Germany and London, England, setting up the Company’s European operations. He also helped negotiate a joint venture agreement with Mitsubishi Corporation and World Peace Industrial to form the Company’s Asian operation.

Mr. Patel received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.
